Puerto Galera is situated on the northern coast of Mindoro Island, which is separated from Luzon by the Verde Island Passage. These waters are flushed by the current of the South China Sea, resulting in strong currents. It contains more varieties of fish than the Red Sea, and more varieties of hard and soft corals than the Great Barrier Reef!

PUERTO GALERA GALLERY
Diving in Puerto Galera
This coastal town is well known among tourists for its numerous pocket beaches and many snorkeling and scuba diving spots. The area was designated a Man and Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO in 1973. The Puerto Galera bay sometimes know as the Port of Galleons, was indeed a place the Spanish galleons and Chinese traders would hide from typhoons and use its banks for ship repairs.
Situated in the Coral Triangle, Puerto Galera has the highest concentrations of marine life species on the planet... double that that you'll find in the Caribbean. Just imagine diving with over two thousand fish species on the reefs of Puerto Galera. There are amazing drift dives and the wreck of the Alma Jane is one not to miss. The unusual critters you find on a much dive seem to be from another world. Another area highlight is the day trip to Verde Island. A one hour boat ride across the channel presents you with a pinnacle that is home to millions of orange anthias, moray eels, giant frog fish, super-sized nudibranchs and breathtaking soft corals. On the deeper edge you'll see schools of jacks, tuna and wide mouth mackerel, oriental sweetlips and hawksbill turtles and occasionally a whale shark out in the blue!
